Languages development center
The language development center teachers create a common space where, by speaking different languages, communication participants understand each other.
The center prepares students for the QAZTEST and IELTS exams; elective classes in the Russian language are organized for interns of the foreign faculty; there are four-level Kazakh language courses; and the language club "Сөйле" is active.
The language development center has 27 teachers.
Science
In the field of research interests of the department, the academic foundations of teaching a foreign language include psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, linguodidactics, linguistic country studies, and contemporary issues in linguistics.
Our teachers' publications can be found in scientific journals indexed by the Scopus database and recommended by the KOKSNU of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
A trilingual student scientific club operates at the center. Here, students learn the basics of academic work, including gathering and processing research material, writing, and publishing scientific articles. Students participate in scientific conferences and language Olympiads at various levels, including international ones, where they win prizes.
Education
Teachers at the center create printed and electronic educational and methodological materials, utilize innovative tools, and develop proprietary language teaching methodologies.
The "Tandem" method has become popular among students, where one student serves as the teacher but possesses a higher proficiency in the language being studied. "Tandem" is not a classic lesson but rather a lively communication experience in two or three languages on assigned topics.
The department pays great attention to extracurricular activities that create an immersive language environment.
