The Holistic Personality of a Doctor: Professional Identity, Responsibility and Leadership

On February 18–19, 2026, the Republican Forum of Medical University Students on the topic of “The Holistic Personality of a Doctor: Professional Identity, Responsibility and Leadership” was held at Astana Medical University with the participation of the First Vice Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Timur Sultangaziyev.
The forum brought together students of medical universities, rectors and vice-rectors, representatives of the academic community, and practical healthcare organizations fr om all regions of the country. During the event, participants discussed the formation of the professional identity of future doctors, the role of medical professionals in present-day society, and current directions in the development of medical education.



Particular attention was given to the concept of “Толық Адам” (“A Complete Person”), which views a doctor as a holistic individual combining a high level of professional knowledge, responsibility, leadership skills, and effective communication skills. Participants discussed the importance of teamwork, clinical decision-making, and interaction with patients within the modern healthcare system.
As part of the forum, innovative student projects aimed at introducing digital technologies into medical practice and the educational process were presented. An exhibition on “AI and Digitalization in Healthcare” was also organized, wh ere participants became acquainted with developments in the field of artificial intelligence focused on improving the quality and accessibility of medical care.



The forum program included a student organizations fair and a project competition on the application of artificial intelligence in medical education and clinical activity, with the participation of heads of the country’s medical universities. At the plenary session, reports were delivered by Vice-Rector for Strategy, Digitalization and Internationalization V.P. Riklefs and Dean of the International Medical Faculty K.K. Sarsenbayev.
Following the results of the competition, the team of Karaganda Medical University presented the innovative project “AIClinical,” which was recognized as one of the best and took second place, demonstrating a high level of academic and project-based training among the students.
