- In 1971, graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Karaganda State Medical Institute.
- From 1971 to 1974 – intern at the Department of Propedeutics of Internal Diseases.
- From 1974 to 1977, as a postgraduate student at the department, prepared a candidate dissertation on the topic: "Citoenzymatic changes in rheumatoid arthritis".
- Since September 1977, worked as an assistant at the Department of Internal Diseases No. 3.
- Since March 21, 1986, elected as Associate Professor of the Department of Polyclinic Therapy, and since November 21, 1991, appointed as Head of the same department.
- From September 2001 to July 1, 2002, headed the Clinical Council of KSMI.
- From August 12, 1998, to December 31, 2002, served as the Senior Physician at the Family Medicine Outpatient Clinic of KSMI.
- From April 1, 2005, to August 31, 2017, was the Head of the Department of General Medical Practice with a course on Neurosurgery and Nursing at FNPF.
- Since 2017, has been the Honored Professor of the Department.
- For her significant contribution to the educational process in training highly qualified specialists for practical healthcare, K.A. Alihanova was awarded the "For Valorous Labor" medal (1970).

- 2017 – 2019 – leader of the clinical study "International multicenter observational non-interventional prospective study of azilsartan medoxomil in patients with hypertension and overweight or obesity in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan".
- 2017 – 2019 – leader of the clinical study "International multicenter double-blind placebo-controlled randomized clinical trial in parallel groups evaluating the efficacy and safety of Ergoferon in the treatment of acute respiratory viral infections in children".
- K.A. Alihanova has more than 500 scientific articles, 6 patents, 29 monographs, 75 methodical recommendations, and over 20 certificates of state registration of intellectual property objects. She is the supervisor of four master's theses and two PhD dissertations.
