1st year
  • Basics of nephrology;
  • Diagnostic methods in nephrology;
  • Diagnostic value and interpretation of laboratory;
  • Immunological and visual diagnostic methods;
  • Diagnosis verification and tactics for managing adult patients at all levels of medical care;
  • Principles and profiles of renal replacement therapy.
2nd year
  • Diagnostic and treatment methods in nephrology for the pediatric population;
  • Issues of immunology and transplantation in nephrology;
  • Interventional nephrology, clinical pathomorphology in nephrology.

Final learning outcomes:

  1. Demonstrate skills for early diagnosis of acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease in adult and pediatric patients, perform nephroprotection management.
  2. Conduct ultrasound examination and interpret the results of sonographic examination, CT and MRI of major vessels, organs of the urinary system.
  3. Demonstrate the technique for performing (assisting) nephrobiopsy and interpreting the results of light, electron microscopy, and immunofluorescence.
  4. Establish a diagnosis and carry out treatment, prevention, medical rehabilitation, dynamic observation of adult and pediatric patients with urinary system pathology at all levels of medical care.
  5. Demonstrate the performance of various replacement therapy techniques and basic vascular access procedures in patients with renal insufficiency.
  6. Demonstrate the ability to manage patients before and after kidney transplantation.
  7. Provide emergency care for life-threatening conditions in nephrology.
  8. Master the tactics of managing pregnant women with kidney pathology at the outpatient and inpatient levels.

Employment

After completing the educational program, graduates can work in public and private healthcare organizations as nephrologists for adults, children (ultrasound diagnostics within the specialty), and obtain the right to private practice according to current regulations.
