What will you learn?

1st year
  • The basics of nutrition;
  • Ultrasound diagnostics of abdominal organs;
  • The diagnostic value and interpretation of radiation diagnostic methods;
  • Verification of the diagnosis and management tactics of adult and pediatric patients with pathology of the gastrointestinal tract at all levels of medical care;
  • Diagnosis and emergency care in the clinic of internal diseases and pediatrics.
2nd year
  • Conducting diagnostic endoscopy and basic procedures of therapeutic endoscopy of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract;
  • Basics of oncology;
  • Pathomorphology of diseases of the digestive system;
  • Verification of the diagnosis and management tactics of adult and pediatric patients with hepatobiliary tract pathology at all levels of medical care.

Final learning outcomes

  1. To diagnose and carry out treatment, prevention, medical rehabilitation, dynamic monitoring of adult and pediatric patients with digestive pathology at all levels of medical care.
  2. Diagnose oncological diseases and manage precancerous pathology of the gastrointestinal tract and liver.
  3. To determine the nutritional status of the patient and to carry out its correction in diseases of the digestive system.
  4. To conduct an ultrasound examination of the abdominal organs and interpret its results in diseases of the digestive system.
  5. To demonstrate the performance of diagnostic endoscopy and basic procedures of therapeutic endoscopy of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract.
  6. Provide qualified medical care in case of emergency and life-threatening conditions.
  7. Demonstrate effective interaction with the patient, his environment, and healthcare professionals, including as part of interdisciplinary and interprofessional teams in order to achieve the best results for the patient.

Employment

After completing their studies under the educational program, graduates can work in public and private healthcare organizations as a gastroenterologist for adults, children (endoscopy, ultrasound diagnostics within the specialty), and obtain the right to private practice in accordance with current regulatory legal acts.
