Mission

Training of a pediatric anesthesiologist-resuscitator capable of diagnosing critical conditions, providing qualified syndromic intensive care and anesthetic care to children of various ages and with various pathologies, based on a deep theoretical knowledge of the anatomical and physiological characteristics of the child's body, the principles of evidence-based medicine, innovative medical technologies and adherence to ethical and deontological aspects of pediatric anesthesiology and resuscitation.

What will you learn?

1st course
  • Methods for examining children in the intensive care unit, before planned and emergency surgeries;
  • Determining indications for transferring children to and from the intensive care unit;
  • Administering anesthesia under the guidance of a clinical mentor;
  • Monitoring the condition of children in the postoperative period and with impaired vital functions;
  • Conducting cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in children of various ages;
  • Independently administering all types of anesthesia under the guidance of a clinical mentor.
2nd course
  • Developing an intensive care plan for children in the intensive care unit;
  • Intensive care for children in the intensive care unit under the guidance of a clinical mentor;
  • Completing documentation in an integrated medical information system;
  • Predicting potential complications in pediatric intensive care units;
  • Independent management of pediatric intensive care patients under the guidance of a clinical mentor.

Final learning outcomes

  1. Conducts diagnostics of the leading pathological syndrome that determines the severity of the child's condition in critical condition based on the prescribed volume of laboratory, instrumental and clinical examination, followed by interpretation of the results obtained.
  2. Assesses the child's condition before planned, emergency, and urgent surgical interventions, determining the surgical and anesthetic risk to select the optimal anesthesia method based on the underlying disease, injury, and comorbid conditions, followed by preparation of anesthesia, respiratory, and monitoring equipment.
  3. Performs various anesthesia techniques during procedures and surgical interventions in children of various ages, employing skills in maintaining airway patency during anesthesia and continuous intraoperative monitoring of the child's condition while establishing venous access, including central venous catheterization under ultrasound guidance.
  4. Diagnoses organ failure in life-threatening conditions in children of various ages, performs basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and provides consultations to physicians in specialized departments on the organization and implementation of intensive care.
  5. Develops and implements intensive therapy plans for children with critical conditions, including non-invasive and various invasive ventilation regimens, extracorporeal detoxification, determining fluid, electrolyte, and medication requirements, their infusion rates, taking into account enteral-parenteral nutrition, and indications for transfusion of blood components and products under continuous invasive and non-invasive monitoring of the child's condition.
  6. Documents patient information and informed consent of children's relatives for various invasive manipulations, procedures, and surgeries, based on knowledge of relevant laws, standards, and regulations, adherence to ethical principles, medical confidentiality, deontological aspects, and confidentiality, adhering to medical record-keeping rules and the protection of patient personal data, followed by an analysis of medical and statistical indicators of the pediatric anesthesiology and resuscitation department.
  7. Conducts independent research, critically analyzes, and systematizes scientific information on pediatric anesthesiology and resuscitation using scientific communication skills, as well as the principles and methods of medical research, with subsequent practical implementation of scientific advances from an evidence-based medicine perspective.
  8. Demonstrates the ability to participate in an interprofessional team to optimize the safe intensive care of children of various ages through the effective use of an integrated medical information system and digital technologies in the form of timely completion of medical documentation, electronic scales and charts for assessing the severity of the patient, predicting the course of a critical condition, the course of anesthesia, including through regular improvement of their professional knowledge and skills.

Employment

After completing the educational program, graduates can work in public and private healthcare organizations as pediatric anesthesiologists and resuscitators, and obtain the right to private practice in accordance with current regulations.
