World Dental Federation Congress in Shanghai: Innovation, Collaboration, and Emerging Opportunities
Every year, in the first month of autumn, the World Dental Federation (FDI) hosts the most significant event in the dental world – the FDI Congress. This year the Congress was held in Shanghai from September 9 to September 12. Karaganda Medical University was represented by Professor S.T. Tuleutayeva from the School of Dentistry, assistant professor, PhD A.T. Baigulakov from the School of Dentistry, assistant professor D.Zh. Tuleutayev.
Prior to the Congress, from September 6, 2025, the Federation's committees held meetings in the framework of the Assembly. In the work of the FDI’s Assembly, the “Integration” and “Continuing Dental Education” working parties of the FDI’s European Regional Organization, and the National Liaison Officers Forum (NLO Forum) were attended by the assistant professor, PhD A.T. Baigulakov, National Coordinator from the Kazakhstan Dental Association, who was awarded an honorary certificate at the Congress for his significant contribution to the activities of the World Dental Federat
The Congress opened on September 9, 2025. As part of the Congress, a scientific session was held, following which university staff received certificates of advanced training with international credit unit ADA-CERP Points. Poster presentations were delivered by Professor S.T.Tuleutayeva and assistant professor D.Zh.Tuleutayev. Following the conference, the materials are published in the indexed International Dental Journal.
Participation in conferences on this scale is essential for medical university instructors. The Congress discussed modern approaches in endodontics, pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, dental restoration, periodontics, dental prosthetics and dental implantation, interrelation between diseases of the oral cavity and systemic diseases, and applying digital technologies and AI in dental practice. We got to know colleagues from various countries, expanded our professional contacts, and thus gained new opportunities for growth for both instructors and students.
The Congress included an international dental exhibition showcasing advanced technologies in dental science and practice. The exhibition focused on the training of future dentists, presenting modern training simulators and mannequins, including digital and AI-based ones. Digital equipment and devices, laser technologies, and AI in dentistry were presented for dental practice. University employees gained a detailed understanding of new technologies and global standards for dental clinics. Participation in the Congress and exhibition allowed them to strengthen international connections, learn about the latest scientific and technological achievements, and contribute to the development of global dental policy.
