The center of physical health
The main task of the Physical Health Center is to prepare highly qualified doctors who are advocates and promoters of a healthy lifestyle.
Two gyms, a wrestling room, fitness rooms, a skiing base, a shooting range, and a summer football court operate within the Physical Health Center. All facilities meet standard requirements and are equipped with the necessary equipment. The university administration allocates financial resources for updating sports facilities and acquiring the necessary equipment for conducting full-fledged physical education classes.
Students have the opportunity to test their strength by participating in traditional Spartakiads such as "Between Schools," "Hostels," "Freshman," and "KMU Eagle."
Sports sections at the Physical Health Center include volleyball (male and female), basketball (male and female), table tennis, athletics, presidential multi-sport, football, chess, checkers, тоғыз-құмалақ, асық ату, athletic gymnastics, Kazakh wrestling, and judo.
Our university athletes defend the honor of the university in competitions of various levels, actively participating in city, regional, national, and international competitions.
Our Latest Achievements
Republican Judo Tournament named after Shakarim Kudayberdyuly (Semey, December 14-15, 2023). In the team standings, NAO "MUK" secured an honorable 3rd place out of 12 teams from across Kazakhstan, winning 8 medals.
Annual Student League in Table Tennis (Karaganda, October 8 to December 7, 2023). Overall 1st place.

History of the Center
- 1950 - The Department of Physical Education was established.
- Until 2017, the department was led by I.P. Shevelev, M.S. Seraliyev, Yu.A. Khairova, S.I. Beknazarov, P.N. Vostrikov, and A.V. Klimov.
Over the years, the department has trained international class masters of sports, masters of sports, candidates for master of sports, and first-class athletes in athletics, football, weightlifting, volleyball, basketball, judo, skiing, powerlifting, and more.
The women's volleyball team of KGMA has repeatedly won prizes at the Republic of Kazakhstan Championships.
- Since 2017, the Department of Physical Education has been headed by Lyudmila Vladimirovna Kovalenko.
- In 2018, the Department of Physical Education was renamed to the Center for Physical Health.
- The first head of the course was Senior Lecturer I.P. Shevelev.
Igor Petrovich Shevelev was born in 1922 in Kazan. Since 1946, he worked at Kazan Medical Institute, and in 1950 he was transferred from Kazan to the newly established Karaganda State Medical Institute, where he headed the Department of Physical Education. - Later, M.S. Seraliyev became the head of the department.
From 1951 to 1955, the department was led by Yu.A. Khairova. Yuldus Abdullayevna graduated from Kazakh Medical Institute in 1950. She dedicated her years of study at the institute to physical culture and sports. Throughout her long, interesting life, Yuldus Abdullayevna remained a bright advocate for mass physical culture and active leisure. - From 1955 to 1957, S.I. Beknazarov was the head of the department.
- From 1957 to 1986, the department was led by P.N. Vostrikov.
- Pavel Nikolayevich Vostrikov graduated from the Kazakh State Institute of Physical Culture in 1952 and was sent to work at the Karaganda State Medical Institute in the Department of Physical Education. As a senior lecturer in sports mass work, he proved himself to be a knowledgeable and highly qualified leader and organizer. From 1957 to 1986, he was elected head of the department. While conducting the educational process, he led sports activities, which were repeatedly recognized by higher organizations. Athletes from the institute won prizes in both regional and all-Union competitions among medical universities and were winners of district, city, and regional competitions.
- From 1986 to 2017, the department was headed by A.V. Klimov. Alexander Viktorovich Klimov graduated from the Karaganda Pedagogical Institute of Physical Education in 1978. At his request, he was sent to work in the city of Shevchenko (Mangystau region). In February 1979, he was accepted to the Karaganda State Medical Institute as a lecturer in the Department of Physical Education. He was later elected as a senior lecturer. In 1986, he was appointed head of the department. A skilled organizer and leader, he devoted a lot of effort and skill to the establishment and improvement of the department's work. He was awarded the badge of honor "Honored Worker of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan."
- Over the years, highly qualified teachers worked at the department, making a significant contribution to the training of medical professionals, including D.A. Karakai, G.K. Mayer, D.F. Matushchak, N.A. Dort-Goltz, M.D. Li, V.P. Uvarov, V.B. Zorin, R.R. Voskanaov, V.K. Bezgasheva, L.F. Starova, A.D. Golunov, O.G. Volter, A.V. Khudyakov, V.A. Raiko, V.M. Alikov, I.I. Pukhova, A.S. Sagimbaev, V.E. Ryabkov, A.V. Konradi, A.V. Lapsary, I.S. Filev, V.O. Rojkov, F.A. Batirov, E.V. Kosiakov, A.I. Tinkov, N.I. Volkov, L.F. Lavrova, L.I. Karpenko, G.P. Atamanskaya, S.B. Bisingaliyeva, D.D. Mukushev, E.S. Mishchenko, R.B. Timershin, E.A. Kim, E.A. Raingardt, and many others. Laboratory assistants included G.D. Klimashina, L.I. Podorskaya, M.L. Kudryashova, and M.T. Akhmetova.
- Since 2017, the Department of Physical Education has been headed by Lyudmila Vladimirovna Kovalenko. Lyudmila Vladimirovna has been working at the department since 1992, graduating from the Karaganda Pedagogical Institute in 1992. She was assigned to the Karaganda State Medical Institute and worked as a senior lecturer, responsible for the LFK department, and responsible for the methodological work at the department as a deputy head. She has proven herself to be a highly qualified specialist and was elected the head of the Center for Physical Health.
- The Center for Physical Health currently employs a highly professional coaching and teaching staff, consisting of senior coaches and teachers: L.M. Zhukova, L.A. Kuchina, S.N. Dolmatova, M.N. Tunitskaya, I.D. Smirnova, A.S. Moldabekov, A.V. Mukhamedyazanov, A.K. Tusupbekov, and O.N. Radynskaya. Coaches and teachers include D.O. Begimov, D.S. Alimzhanov, and A.M. Agibaev. Assistant coaches are G.Z. Muzaparova, I.A. Lavrinenko, S.K. Baiguzieva, E.V. Berdina, T.E. Gladinova, K.A. Jumekenov, and A.B. Bolatova.
- The Center for Physical Health is open to new ideas and is always ready for discussion and practical application.
