Department of Infectious Diseases and Phthisiology
The faculty of the Department has extensive experience in training bachelor's degree students, interns, residents, and doctors, generously imparting knowledge and skills of a clinical physician.
Department staff perform consultative work, oversee patients, and respond to sanitary aviation calls to provide assistance to medical facilities in the city, Karaganda region, and the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The scientific interests of the department are related to the study of the characteristics of the pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, treatment, and prevention of socially significant infectious diseases in adults and children.
The department employs 26 staff members.
Science
The scientific interests of the department are related to the study of the characteristics of the pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, treatment, and prevention of socially significant infectious diseases in adults and children.
The department actively participates in scientific research, the results of which are published in journals included in indexed databases such as RINC, Scopus, Thomson-Reuters, and others. Pre-patents and innovative patents have been obtained, as well as certificates of registration for intellectual property objects. Department staff have participated in the organization and conduct of scientific and practical conferences and master classes, presenting scientific reports at international conferences.
The department hosts a student scientific circle. The results of students' scientific research are presented at national and international student conferences and published in scientific journals.
Department staff are active members of the Republican Public Association "Society of Infectious Disease Physicians."
Department faculty participated in the development of clinical protocols for the Republic of Kazakhstan, namely: Professor Alshynbekova G.K., Assistant Professor Devdariani H.G., and in international projects in medical education under the Erasmus+ TAME project - Professor Alshynbekova G.K., Assistant Professor Dyusembaev A.E.
Education
The faculty of the department has extensive experience in training bachelors, interns, residents, and physicians, generously imparting the knowledge and skills of a clinical physician. The educational process at the bachelor's and internship levels is conducted in the specialties of "General Medicine," "Dentistry," "Preventive Medicine," "Pediatrics," "Family Medicine," and "Infectious Diseases in Adults and Children."
Teaching at the department is conducted in the state, Russian, and English languages. The main scientific interests of the department are focused on studying the characteristics of the pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, treatment, and prevention of socially significant infectious diseases in adults and children.
Clinic
Faculty members of the department provide medical and consulting services at the clinical bases of KGP "Regional Clinical Hospital," "Infectious Center," KGP "Regional Children's Clinical Hospital," the clinic of professional health at NAO MUK, KGP "Regional Center for Phthisiopulmonology," and KGP OKB "Dermatovenerological Center." Department staff perform consulting work, supervise patients, and respond to requests for assistance in healthcare institutions in the city, Karaganda region, Republic of Kazakhstan.

History of the Department
- 2018 - The Department of Adult Infectious Diseases, the Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, and the Department of Phthisiatry were reorganized. The Department of Infectious Diseases, Phthisiatry, and Epidemiology was established.
- 2019 - The Department of Infectious Diseases and Phthisiatry was formed.
