Summer and winter schools operate on the basis of the Center for Simulation and Educational Technologies.

Why attend the school?

  • To reinforce and deepen theoretical knowledge and practical skills;
  • To develop clinical thinking for further application in practical activities.

The school is for undergraduate and internship students. Participants are divided into groups and study in different classrooms. Training in the school is conducted in-person, adhering to the necessary safety requirements.

Topic: “Emergency Care and Surgery”.

Duration - 5 days.

Skills Practiced:

  • Pre-medical and emergency medical care for the most common life-threatening conditions in therapy and surgery;
  • Basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation in adults and children (BLS, ACLS, PALS), emergency care for injuries, drowning, burns, respiratory obstruction using the center's simulation equipment;
  • Basic medical procedures.

Senior students analyze complex situations in emergency medical services with a detailed review of the care algorithm.

Duration - 3 days.

  • 1st day - Familiarization with equipment, simulators, models, and virtual training programs.
  • 2nd day - Practical part. Practicing emergency care skills for acute coronary syndrome, techniques for advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (PALS, ACLS), performing first aid for various etiologies, and emergency care techniques for upper airway obstruction.
  • 3rd day - Completion of the cycle. Demonstration of skill mastery techniques, applying acquired knowledge using models.

Assessment of practical skills is conducted using checklists (daily credit).

Each participant receives a certificate confirming the completion of the summer school on emergency care and surgery.

School of Communication Skills Development

The School of Communication Skills Development was established in 2021.

The school provides a safe educational environment for learning clinical skills, offering students opportunities to develop, maintain, and enhance their clinical competencies and lifelong learning abilities.

Currently, the area of the School of Communication Skills Development is 54.9 square meters (2 classrooms) equipped with necessary educational materials. The classrooms are equipped with video cameras to monitor the organization of the learning process and an Internet network.

The School of Communication Skills Development participates in the Erasmus+ program and is involved in the project 619037-EPP-1-2020-1-EL-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP “Fostering the Doctor of the 21st Century: Education for Patient-Centered Communication.”

Main Objectives of the School:

  • Organization and implementation of integrated learning and teaching of clinical skills using various active learning methods with the resources of the center.
  • Development of communication skills and a patient-centered approach.
  • Formation of skills for independent and self-directed learning.

The school of a young teacher

The Young Teacher School operates for instructors of NPJSC “Karaganda Medical University” and AO “Astana Medical University”

The training takes place in a distance format on the “Webex” platform.

Qualification enhancement is conducted by:

  • Riklefs Viktor Petrovich - Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, International Master of Medical Education, graduate of Maastricht University (Netherlands);
  • Kemelova Gulshat Seitmuratovna - Director of the Simulation and Educational Technologies Center, graduate of the “Bolashak” program from the International Medical University (Malaysia).

As part of the training program, information is provided on the effective application of active learning and teaching methods, the use of objective assessment methods, and the provision of constructive feedback to stimulate and motivate students to achieve learning outcomes.
