Student-centered education in practice

The last Tutorial classes on Sociology in groups PH (Public Healthcare) 1-002 and GM (General Medicine) 2-070 were held as interactive in leaving 2014 (instructor is a docent of Department of History of Kazakhstan and SPD A.M. Abikenova). The interactive classes were held as the online webinars.

The students of PH 1-002 and GM 2-070 showed themselves of as active participants of educational process. They elaborated the program of webinars and implemented them independently in the framework of social research projects. The students distributed methodical, organizational and technical functions among them independently.

Such moving from teaching as knowledge translation in educational process to active participation of students is the fundamental principle of Bologna reforms in the higher education.

During the webinars the online conversation was organized with Doctor of Medicine, Professor of the Department of Theory and Methods of Physical Education of Pavlodar State Pedagogical Institute Tnimova Gulbagiza Taufikovna.

Professor G.T. Tnimova investigated the problem of health gender aspects with the group PH 1-002 in December 11, 2014. She presented on her own results of social-psychological researches that health is not an abstract category. Men and women are different in duration of life, in development of diseases, in health practices.

Another webinar “Professional burnout of teachers” with the group GM 2-070 was in December 31, 2014. Professor G.T. Tnimova presented the problem of teachers’ professional burnout in a view of age and gender differences. She distinguished that the syndrome of “burnout” is relevant mostly for representatives of communicative professionals. It is also relevant for medical employees.

Presentations of Professor G.T. Tnimova aroused keen interest of students in both groups. They made their decision to continue collaboration and develop further joint projects.

The students mastered the skills of individual and collective research work, saw the role of applied researches, made sure in necessity of critical thinking and defensing of own position during preparation and carrying out of these webinars.
