BERNICA Study Tour (Graz, Austria) was held with the participation of representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan under Erasmus+ program.

The tour was carried out according to the Project 101082831 – BERNICA – ERASMUS-EDU-2022-CBHE “Building Educational and Research Capacities in Nutrition and Dietetics in Central Asia”.

Karaganda Medical University was represented by Professor Lyazat Ibrayeva, Associate Professor Irina Bacheva, Associate Professor Tleuzhan Abugaliyeva.  

 BERNICA Study Tour was opened with a welcome speech by PhD Manuela Konrad, who introduced the participants to FH JOANNEUM. The participants of the tour were welcomed by the Managing Director for Scientific Work of the University of FH JOANNEUM FH-Prof. Dr. mont. Corinna Engelhardt-Nowitzki, Director of the Institute of Dietetics at FH JOANNEUM, who in their speeches presented the strategic goals, scientific projects, training programs. The participants had the opportunity to visit laboratories (Health Perception Lab, Food Processing Lab, Sport Science Lab), to engage in a dialogue with leading specialists of the laboratories and to exchange opinions and share their experience.

During the master classes, participants discussed the issues of working in interdisciplinary and intercultural groups; completed training in working with the MOOC platform; took part in an intercultural game with FH JOANNEUM students. The participants also visited the university campuses. The meeting concluded with a ceremony of awarding certificates to the participants and discussing the implementation of the designed courses in their universities.
