Atthe end ofthe academic year, some milestonesof the workof the department of surgicaldeseases

22 July 2021

The academic year 2020-2021 was quite difficult and interesting, a lot was done by clinical work and the educational process in a mixed form in the conditions of the COVID. The staff of the Department of Surgical Diseases actively participated in the work of the university, in conducting classes for bachelors and interns in the conditions of the COVID pandemic.

Summing up the results of the past academic year, we can note the holding of a master class on "Laparoscopic surgery of the gastrointestinal tract" by professor of the Department of Surgical Diseases Shakeev Kairat Tanabaevich in the city of Kostanay for surgeons. This master class on the training program for advanced training of doctors included a theoretical part – five lectures on problematic issues of laparoscopic surgery; a practical part - the participation of students during operations in the "Live surgery" mode, with an analysis of clinical cases and issues of preventing mistakes when performing surgical interventions. A significant part of the program for students was training in the skills of endosurgery techniques on simulators – installing ports and endocamera, the ability to apply an intracorporeal suture, and more. This master class was attended by 28 students-surgeons of the Kostanay region and the regional center.

5 laparoscopic interventions were performed for such pathologies as megacolon and dolichosigma, abdominal adhesive disease and cicatricial stenosis of the sigmoid colon, malignant tumors of the colon. Such interventions belong to the high category of complexity. During the operations, the students received complete information about the course of the intervention, which they discussed with the professor after the operations.

A significant result of the master class was the opportunity for more experienced students not only to observe the course of operations, but also to perform certain stages of interventions under the supervision of Kairat Tanabaevich. All patients felt well after the operation, there was a faster recovery stage, which indicated the advantages of laparoscopic technologies over traditional open operations.

At the end of the master class, a control survey of students was conducted and the results of the event were summed up. Summing up the results of the master class, we can say that we managed to cope with the task in full.
