On March 10-11, 2020, a training “Quality Assurance in Education” was held in Nur Sultan with the invitation of Professor Maya Chankseliani of the Department of Education, Oxford University, Master of International Education Policy at Harvard University (USA) and Ph.D. in Education Cambridge University (UK). At the first stage, one of the conditions for selection for this training was the submission of the original project idea. 70 applications were submitted from various universities of Kazakhstan, and only 25 original ideas were selected. So, Kemelova Gulshat, Director of the Center for simulation and educational technologies of the NJSC "Medical University of Karaganda" was the only one representative from medical universities, who were lucky to participate on the training.
In order to build long-term partnerships and achieve real changes in education by increasing knowledge and skills, which will help increase the potential of university graduates in the global labor market, the British Council has developed a continuing education program for teachers and university leaders. A deep understanding of the local context in a wide range of international educational systems allows people to be united to exchange experiences and best practices in order to increase the employability of graduates.
THREE AREAS OF THE BRITISH COUNCIL FOCUS:
• English in higher education: to improve the provision of English in higher education and English as a means of learning. The goal is to enable more graduates to participate in the international educational space, to establish better international cooperation in research.
• The quality assurance. This is an improvement in the quality of teaching and learning in higher education and is important for creating and maintaining educational standards.
• Employment opportunities for graduates: access to higher education, which will provide students with an appropriate set of skills that meets the labor market and the requirements of the 21st century society.
The British Council constantly conducts such trainings and this is a unique opportunity to improve educators’ skills.
