The 13th International Conference on Advanced Technologies and Treatment for Diabetes (ATTD 2020) was held on February 18-22, 2020 in the city of Madrid (Spain).

The conference was attended by 3800 participants  from 80 countries. Leading scientists and practitioners in the field of diabetes discussed current issues, trends and prospects, innovative technologies in the study of diagnosis, control and treatment of diabetes.

The conference program included plenary sessions, symposia, interactive and industrial sessions, E-poster sessions, exhibitions of innovative equipment for the control and treatment of diabetes.

Karaganda Medical University was presented by a candidate of medical sciences, the associate professor and head of the department of internal diseases No. 2 Yelena Mikhailovna Laryushina, with a poster presentation on the topic: “Association of 1,5-Anhydro-D-glucitol and insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with ST elevation myocardial infarction  and the PhD student of the 2^nd year Viktoriya Parakhina, with a poster presentation on the topic: "The relationship between the level of PAI-1, insulin resistance indicators and the cardiovascular risk in patients with prediabetes."

During the presentations, the associate professor and the PhD student highlighted the issues of diagnosing insulin resistance, cardiovascular risk and events in patients with prediabetes and diabetes.

These topics aroused keen interest among those present in the form of discussion of the results.
