In Tyumen, namely Tyumen State Medical University, the regional stage of the XVIII All-Russian Surgery Olimpiad named after the academician I.M. Perelman was held.

The Karaganda medical university was represented by interns-surgeons: Nuraly Shyngys, Shabanov Alexandr, Abdumutalov Nurdaulet, Ivachyov Pavel, Kurvanaliyev Nagy, students of 4^th and 5^th courses of "General Medicine" specialty: Arkinzhanov Kamaldin, Zhumanbayev Sanzhar.The doctor of Ph.D., the associate professor of the №2 department of surgical diseases D.K. Kaliyeva was invited to the Surgery Olimpiad in quality of the judge.The team was prepared by the department of surgical diseases under the leadership of the head of the department, professor Y.M. Turgunov and the Center of practical skills by the Director, associate professor G.S. Kemelova.

The program of the Olimpiad was very saturated: participants not only competed in theoretical knowledge, but also performed practical tasks on setting up a suture of a nerve under an operational microscope with a hardly visible thread, carried out an osteosynthesis with use of the Ilizarov apparatus, carried out a trachea intubation. Worked in the different directions of surgery: plastic, abdominal, cardiovascular, microsurgery, neurosurgery, traumatology and others.

All guests from Kazakhstan (except us there have also arrived representatives of West Kazakhstan Medical University named after M. Ospanov) were warmly accepted in Tyumen State Medical University, a tour on the main attractions of this beautiful Siberian city was conducted. The atmosphere of friendship and feeling of participation in common cause reigned among participants – future surgeons.

Following the results of the Surgery Olimpiad the team of our university took the prizes:

2^nd place – in the "Abdominal Surgery" competition: Kurvanaliyev Nagy, Arkinzhanov Kamaldin, Nuraly Shyngys, Abdumutalov Nurdaulet.

3^rd place – in the "Osteosynthesis" competition: Ivachyov Pavel, Abdumutalov Nurdaulet, Nuraly Shyngys. 

3^rd place – in the "Endovideosurgery" competition: Shabanov Alexandr, Zhumanbayev Sanjar. 

3^rd place – in the "Theory" competition: Ivachyov Pavel, Kurvanaliyev Nagy, Nuraly Shyngys, Abdumutalov Nurdaulet, Shabanov Alexandr. 

 The team continues trainings on the basis of Centre of practical skills and the №2 department of surgical diseases, preparing for the forthcoming Surgery Olimpiad in Almaty and Moscow.
