On February 9, II tournament on mini-football among the faculty and staff of universities of the city of Karaganda was held in the sports complex of Karaganda Economic University. This year's competition is dedicated to the XXX anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.

Teams of teachers from four universities of the region: KSU, KSTU, KEU and MUK took part in the traditional tournament.

Tournament organizers, fans and representatives of the “Union of Afganistan War Veterans and Disabled” of the Karaganda region warmly welcomed the sportsmen.

The solemn opening ceremony started the games of the football tournament. Despite the considerable age of many participants, the teams played at full strength. Numerous sport fans supported their teams from the stands and applauded the successful actions of the players.

The MUK team met with KSTU in the first game. Our team losing 0:2, scored two goals and ended up with a draw 2:2(goals by I.Kofanov). In the second game, the MUK team easily defeated the KEU 7:1.

In the final game with KSU our team (the oldest at the tournament - the average age is 49 years) needed only a victory. The first half ended 0:0. In the second half, the KSU players conducted a quick counterattack and opened the score 1:0. After that KSU-team went into deaf defense and managed to keep the desired draw. The final result is 1:1

  IV place - KSTU

  III place - KEU

  II place - MUK

  I place - KSU.

The organizers named the players of MUK Ivan Kofanov (Top scorer) and Arman Tukhmetov (Best goalkeeper) of the tournament.
