On January 18, 2019, Zaal Kokaia, a professor at Lund University (Sweden), visited Karaganda State Medical University.

Professor Zaal Kokaia is a Director of Stem Cell Center at Lund University, coordinator for «StemTherapy» Strategic Research (“SFO”) in stem cell biology and regenerative medicine, Professor of Experimental Medical Research in the Department of Clinical Sciences, Head of Stem Cell Laboratory and Restorative Neurology, Lund Stem Cell Center of  Lund University (Sweden).

The main purpose of the visit of the professor was the issue of opening a Master's program in Biomedicine at KSMU. During the visit, a meeting of the professor with the administration of the university was held: Rector R. S. Dosmagambetova, Vice-Rector for Academic and Methodical Work V. P. Ricklefs, Dean of the School of Public Health and Pharmacy B. Serik. And also there was a conversation with the academic staff of the departments of biological and neurology profile of KSMU, where they discussed the main directions of research and the potential of our university to open a Master degree in this area.

During the visit of KSMU, Professor Zaal Kokaia was acquainted with the Shared laboratory, the Laboratory of the Department of Biochemistry, the Department of Biology and the Vivarium.
