On December 10, 2018, at KSMU the meeting of the monitors of the 1^st course groups of university schools with the chief specialist of the State Administration for “Religious Affairs of the Karaganda Region” N.V. Sarsenbayev and the Inspector of the KSU “The center for the Study and Analysis of Interfaith Relations problems of the Karaganda Region” B.Y.Kuzekbay was held. Also the meeting was attended by the assistant of the rector M.R.Onaybekov.

During the meeting, that was held in the form of an explanatory conversation, the invited experts in an accessible form informed those present about the need to comply with the current legislation in the sphere of religion, using specific examples showed the inevitability of punishment for committing extremist actions. Special attention was paid to the prevention of citizens getting under the influence of destructive extremist pseudo-religious associations, which hide behind various masks and names and continue to recruit new adherents to their ranks.

The audience was explained the concept of “religious extremism” in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Countering Extremism”, on the basis of which the key conclusion was made: if human rights and freedoms or the society as a whole are damaged as a result of application of any religious practice causing a threat to security, life, health, morality you must contact the law enforcement authorities.

The event also considered threats of the spread of extremist ideology in the Internet environment, including social networks and instant messengers, ways of engaging and adopting extremist ideas, and also provided contact numbers: 8 (7212) 30-06-86 on religious issues and the “110” number – for warning of terrorist threats.

The event ended with an exchange of views in a dialogue format.
