On November 9, 2018, a delegation of the Embassy of Romania in the Republic of Kazakhstan and representatives of the Iuliu Hatieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy visited Karaganda State Medical University. The delegation was headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Kazakhstan Mr. Chezar Manole Armeanu. In addition, the delegation included: Nicolae Pavaluka - Diplomatic Counselor of the Romanian Embassy for trade and economic affairs, Professor Gianina Cristina CRISAN - Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ovidiu Dorin Crisan - Professor of Organic Chemistry, Silviu Ionuc Corpodean - General Administrative Director, Eduard Alexandru Bonci - Professor of Oncologic Surgery and Oncologic Gynecology, Teodora Irina Adam - Professor of Physiopathology, Cornelia Elena Iacob and Hajnal Melinda Bercea- Representatives of the Department of foreign students.

During the meeting, negotiations were held under the leadership of A. A. Turmukhambetova, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development, Science and International Cooperation. In addition, the delegation of KSMU was represented by: V. P. Riklefs, Vice-rector for Educational and Methodical Work, Head of the International Cooperation Department S. B. Kassymova, Dean of the School of Medicine M. M. Zhanassova, Dean of the School of Dentistry A.S. Kalina, Dean of the Public Health and Pharmacy School B. Losseva, Head of the department of oncology and radiation diagnostics N. A. Kabildina, Head of the Department of Pathology S. B. Zhautikova, Head of the Emergency Medical Care Department G. S. Zhumabekova, Assistant of the Department of Oncology and Radiology Y. Fomenko, Specialist of the Science Department E. B. Kultanova.

During the negotiations, the areas of cooperation, the possibility of implementing a joint project in the framework of Capacity Building Erasmus + were discussed.

The outcome of the negotiations was the signing of a bilateral cooperation agreement between the Karaganda State Medical University and the Iuliu Hatieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

The implementation of cooperation with Romanian universities began in 2017, when two PhD doctoral students of KSMU underwent scientific training in the city of Brasov at the University of Transylvania. Also KSMU cooperates with the A.I. Cuza Iasi University and Tirgu Mures University of Medicine and Pharmacy. In the near future, the implementation of the Erasmus + Capacity Building project “Modernization of the immediate response system” is planned. The goal of this project is to modernize the ambulance system by training and integrating multidisciplinary units for immediate response in emergency situations.
