The World Congress of the International Association of Surgeons, Gastroenterologists and Oncologists was held in Moscow from 08.09.18 to 13.09.18, and brought together over 100 leaders of world medicine from Europe, Asia, North America and the post-Soviet space. Among them, IASGO President Masatoshi Makuuchi, famous French surgeons Henri Bismuth and Daniel Jack, developer of modern classification of surgical complications Peter Claven, as well as heads of the world’s largest transplant centers Enrique Moreno-Gonzalez and Sun-Kyu Lee.

The IASGO congress is perceived in the world as a conductor of advanced technologies: it is here that innovative equipment is demonstrated for the first time and information is heard about new, more efficient methods that are subsequently introduced into the practice of doctors and change the quality of patient’s life for the better. The scientific program of the congress was unique in its diversity. Based on four large sections, participants discussed the methods of diagnosis and treatment of surgical and oncological diseases of the digestive system, liver and pancreas, issues of liver transplantation, the possibilities of molecular genetic technologies, minimally invasive, combined treatment and a number of related topics. The focus was on technology and efficiency of treatment.

Surgeons of Karaganda Medical University also participated in the congress: Professor Turgunov E. M., Professor Abatov N. T., PhD candidate Amanova D. E., master student Sevastyanov L. V. A report on the research conducted by PhD candidate Amanova D. E., aroused genuine interest and many questions from foreign colleagues, as well as a positive assessment of the quality of the research.
