Every year, one of the famous orthopedic clinics in Austria, Stolzalpe, holds a practical seminar with international participation “International Orthopedic Summerschool”.

I was honored to be one of 8 selected international students and to become a participant in this seminar. Hospital Stolzalpe is one of the largest orthopedic departments in Austria and is known for its success in surgery of the knee, hip joints, as well as in pediatric orthopedics.

The first week of school included interactive lectures, practical exercises on the most important topics in orthopedics, including conservative orthopedics, radiology, physical medicine and hip sonography for newborns. Practical exercises included knee arthroscopy on the model, casting , osteosynthesis and stitching.

For the next 2 weeks I worked in the outpatient department together with the doctors and in the surgical unit of the clinic. I have assisted in many different operations of the forearm, hand, knee and hip joints, in most cases including endoprosthesis replacement of these joints.

I would like to note the high-tech equipment of the entire clinic and, in particular, the operational part, the high qualifications of doctors, their efficiency and speed in surgical interventions in this area and the willingness to share and teach new skills and knowledge.

Definitely , 3 weeks spent by me in the modernized clinic Stolzalpe, allowed me to master very much as a young surgeon and get an unforgettable experience in one of the narrow specializations.
