Bronchial asthma affects about 300 million people in the world. This is a serious global health problem that affects all age groups in many developing countries. Lack of awareness of patients about their disease, the lack of skills of self-control, inability to properly use medications are major obstacles to successfully overcome the disease, resulting in a quickening of exacerbations, hospitalizations, emergency calls and leads to a decrease in quality of life. One of the ways to increase the effectiveness of treatment of asthma is the Asthma School.

On may 17, 2018 on the basis of the Regional Allergology Center by the staff of the Department of Immunology and Allergology together with residents of the first year the specialty "Allergology and Immunology”  for the first time, a centralized Asthma school was organized and conducted. The main goal of this event was to teach the patient to live with bronchial asthma, to familiarize with the causes and mechanism of asthma development, to penetrate the skills of control over its course (diary of self-control, pyclofometry), to explain the technique of using inhalants. In addition to medical knowledge, Asthma school students were able to learn the methods of respiratory gymnastics in Strelnikova, which helps not only to alleviate the symptoms, but also is a good and reliable way to prevent the development of possible subsequent complications.

Also, psychological training was conducted with the help of which patients were able to acquire a certain psychological attitude to overcome obstacles to recovery, the disclosure of the desire to live full life.

Thus, holding Asthma schools not only gives a broad idea of bronchial asthma, affects the medical aspects of this pathology, but also helps to improve the psychoemotional state and increase the social activity of patients. Classes will be held regularly - every third Thursday of the month in the Regional Allergology Center at 17.00.
