XVII International Congress of Medical Sciences

On May 10-13,2018 the XVII International Congress of Medical Sciences (ICMS) was held in Medical University of Sofia (Bulgaria).

The Congress was participated by 560 medical students and young doctors from Bulgaria, UK, Germany, Serbia, Pakistan, Ukraine, Lithuania, Turkey, Indonesia, Japan, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Portugal and others. There were 4 Oral&Poster Scientific Sessions: Preclinical Session, Therapy, Surgery and Public Health.

Organizing Committee prepared more than 40 hand-on workshops and 4 keynote lectures. There were presented lectures on the following topics: “Medical progress at any cost. Does it mean sacrifice of values?” (Prof. Ferdinand Waldenberger, Germany), “Complex facial reconstructions and 3D planning” (Ass. Prof. Nikolay Yanev, Bulgaria), “Livebirth after Uterus Transplantation” (Prof. Randa Akouri, Sweden), “Paediatric Surgery – the best job in the world“ (Dr. Ross Fisher, UK), “Stumbling on the secret of cell division…” (the Nobel Prize Winner Sir Tim Hunt, UK).

On the behalf of our University in Poster Session intern of 7-011 group Dinara Amanzholova participated in the Congress with a research work «Survival in patients with HER-2/neu-positive and triple-negative breast cancer». Supervisor: Prof., head of the Oncology Department V.B. Sirota Research work was rewarded third place in the Surgery Poster Session.

I appreciate an opportunity to take a part in such high-level medical congresses and want to thank rector R.S.Dosmagambetova, Vice-rector for Strategic Development, Science and International Cooperation,  A.A. Turmukhambetova and the head of the Oncology Department, V.B. Sirota.
