Hackathon is a forum of developers, during which experts from different areas of software (programmers, designers, managers) are working together to solve a problem. Today hackathons no longer refer to hacking, they are just programming marathons.

Our country is on the threshold of the fourth industrial revolution, the basis of which is the transition to the "information age". Digitalization is one of the directions that develops KSMU.

The aim of our hackathon is to attract students to implement socially significant and innovative applications in the field of health. The participants are faced with the task of creating a logically completed prototype application with the possibility of its further application.

Students from 8 universities, colleges, training centers of the country - Medical University of Astana, State Medical University of Semey, Kazakh University of Economics, Finance and International Trade, Karaganda State Medical University, Karaganda State Technical University, the Karaganda Economic University of Kazpotrebsoyuz, Karaganda Technical and Construction College, Computer Academy "SHAG" took part in the hackathon competitions.

I Republican student hackathon "HealthTech" was opened by Vice-rector for Clinical Work and Continuous Professional Development of KSMU Bakhyt Nurgalievna Kosherova: "Kazakhstan is a steadily developing state. The President of our country, N.A. Nazarbayev, in his Address to the people of Kazakhstan, said that the health of the nation is the foundation of our successful future. Much work is being done in this direction, including through the introduction of information technologies in medicine. That is why an event such as the hackathon is held in the walls of the KSMU.

The combination of IT and medicine in this project, the creation of software will not only facilitate the work of medical workers, allow more time to be given to the patient, but, thereby, improve the quality of medicine. Hackathon is a unique platform for solving unique problems, creating unique projects that will find its application in medical practice. The university has provided all conditions for the implementation of hackathon projects. I would like to wish the participants of the project excellent ideas, high-quality projects, skills that will be useful to them in the future".

According to Alexander Nikolayevich Urmashov, the project is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republican Center for Electronic Health, the Karaganda Oblast Health Department and the Information Technologies Center "DAMU" LLP.

Also, on behalf of the KSMU, he expressed special gratitude to the partners and sponsors of the hackaton: the Regional Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics named after Professor H.Z. Then the moderator gave the floor to the member of the working group of the Hackathon, a student of the KSMU, Karina Dyusenova, who acquainted the participants of the project with the rules for holding it, and also answered all the questions of interest. After this, there was held a team building and technical assignments stage, and the participants of the First Republican Hackathon began to work.
