On April 20, 2018 the Department of Foreign Languages held the Regional Trilingual Olympiad in the framework of the implementation of the Road Map for the Development of Trilingual Education for 2015-2020. 7 teams from the following universities of the Karaganda region took part in the Olympiad: Karaganda State Medical University, Karaganda State Technical University, Karaganda State University named after Academician Ye.A. Buketov, Karaganda Economic University of consumers’ co-operative, “Bolashak” Academy, Karaganda State Industrial University (Temirtau city), Karaganda Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan named after B.Beysenov.

The Olympiad consisted of five rounds, each of which was held in three languages:

IstRound "The Trilingual Education - our vision" (presentation).

IIndRound «We Speak Any Language» - game «Jeopardy».

IIIrdRound «Spelling Bee» - pronunciation of words by letters in three languages.

IVthRound «The Game of the Titans» - the game of team captains.

VthRound "Performance Martinee" - improvised speech on the proposed topic.

The independent experts from the field of Philology and Linguistics were the members of the jury: the head of the translation bureau "NurDina", philologist - A.K. Shadykenov; the teacher of English and GPPW from NIS, Master of Science A.Z. Aliyeva and c.ph.s., the head of the Department of the magistracy of the faculty of language and translation of the Central Kazakhstan Academy - A.T. Aratayeva.

Based on the results of the Regional Trilingual Olympiad, the following teams were awarded with valuable prizes and certificates of the rector of KSMU:

- the first place - the team of KSU named after academician Ye.A. Buketov,

- the second place - the team ofKEUof consumers’ co-operative,

- the third place - the team of KSIU (Temirtau).

Participation in the Regional Trilingual Olympiad enabled the students to demonstrate not only their own multilingual knowledge and skills, but also their creative abilities.
