Academic mobility in the Kursk State Medical University.

26 March 2018

In March 2018, within 10 days, Ludmila Alexandrovna Kammerer, assistant of the Emergency Medical Service Department, visited the Kursk State Medical University under the program of academic mobility.

Today Kursk State Medical University is one of the oldest and leading medical educational institutions in Russia. The university educates about 9,000 students, including 2,500 foreigners from Malaysia, India, Brazil, Nigeria, Sri Lanka.

Academic mobility program was held in the Department of Anesthesiology, Reanimatology and Intensive Therapy of Postgraduate Education Faculty. It was founded in 1999. The head of the department is a Doctor of Medical Science, S.А. Sumin, who heads it until today. Sergei Alexandrovich is the author of more than 200 scientific and educational-methodical publications. In competition "100 best universities of Russia" it was awarded the first place in nomination "The best textbook for high schools (textbook of the year)". At present, the 6th edition has been revised and enlarged. At present, the textbook "Urgent Conditions" is the main one in the specialty "Emergency Medical Service" for students of our university.

During the visit we attended practical classes for students of the 6th year of the Faculty of General Medicine, which were held by the associate professor of the department. P.A. Eremin as well as by associate professors on the topics "Urgent conditions in cardiovascular diseases", "Road traffic trauma".

According to a specially developed program of academic mobility, I conducted practical classes with students of the sixth year of General Medicine Faculty. The classes were conducted using innovative educational technologies on such topics as "Fainting, Collapse, Coma" and "Shock states". Students were active, solved situational problems and situational tasks, asked many questions. I’d note that during training sessions psychological microclimate was benevolent, the working environment was good and students absorbed training material with a great enthusiasm.

In the opinion of teachers of the Kursk Medical University who were present there, practical classes were held at high pedagogical and methodological level with detailed analysis of material. The goals and objectives were fully achieved.

There was an excursion in Kursk University. We visited history museum of the university. I liked the department of normal and pathological anatomy, where students are trained using wet anatomical appliances. There is also a remarkable anatomical museum.

During leisure time, I had an opportunity to visit cultural and historical sights of Kursk city.

I would like to express my deep gratitude to the administration and professor-teaching staff of Kursk State Medical University for their hospitality, such an opportunity to exchange experience with highly professional specialists. I would like to express special gratitude to the head of Anesthesiology, Reanimatology and Intensive Therapy Department of Postgraduate Education Faculty , Sergey Aleksandrovich Sumin for ease of communication, benevolence and opportunity to communicate with such a personality of global significance at professional level.

And of course, my deepest gratitude to the rector of the KSMU, Professor Raushan Sultanovna Dosmagambetova and to the Department of International Cooperation for this opportunity to visit the city of Kursk and gain a mutual interesting experience.

L.A. Cammerer

Assistant of the Emergency Medical Service Department
