On February 16 on the basis of KSMU there was held a scientific-practical conference "Infectious diseases: realities of the present day»

According to the World Health Organization annually 2 billion people have infectious diseases, 17 million of them die.  The peculiarity of the 21 st century infections is, along with the reduction or elimination of childhood infections controlled by immunoprophylaxis, the emergence of infections that acquire the features of global spread in the form of epidemics and pandemics, the severe course is often with mortality in children.

Among the preventive measures implemented in the fight against infectious diseases, vaccination of the population is one of the leading places. Globally, it is recognized as the most effective, cost-effective and affordable tool in the fight against infections.  Kazakhstan provides free vaccination against 21 infectious diseases. Vaccines certified by the World Health Organization that are quality assurance, ensuring safety and efficacy. According to the Committee of Public Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan over the past 20 years there has been a clear decrease in the incidence of vaccine-controlled infections.

  The conference was attended by leading experts of Russia and Kazakhstan in the field of epidemiology (J. J. Jasybekov - DPHP in Karaganda region, A.M. Kuatbayeva - deputy director of the Department of Epidemiological Monitoring of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases PSC "Sanitary epidemiological expertise and monitoring," of MH RK, Almaty), pulmonology (Professor G. L. Ignatova, the head of the Department of Therapy "South Ural State Medical University" MH of  Russia, MD, Professor, Chelyabinsk, Russia), infectious diseases (D. A. Baisheva – head of the Department of Childhood Infections of the AMU, Chairman of the Association of the RPA "Society of physicians of infectious diseases", MD, Professor, Astana; professors and associate professors R.H.Begaydarova, B.N.Kosherova, A.A.Kim, G.K.Altynbekova, E.S.Zhunusov (Karaganda State Medical University), clinical pharmacology (Associate Professor SH.S.Kaliyeva),  intensive care (Professor N.A. Maltabarova head of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care MUA), etc.

  At the scientific-practical conference there were discussed the situation on infectious diseases, neurotoxicity in children, the flu, acute respiratory infections, bronchiolitis, acute intestinal disease, opisthorchiasis, hepatitis including pregnant women.

The conference ended with a demonstration of the film "Vaccinated, love, fear and vaccines", provided by the company Pfizer.
