On the 9-10^th of February The First International Olympiad in clinical anatomy and operative surgery was held in JSC “Astana Medical University”. Our team competed with the smartest students of Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Kazakhstan in surgical skills. We had an opportunity to improve our practical proficiencies. As a result our team members were awarded the following rewards: “Urology” – II place – operating team Bayan Mukasheva, Natalya Yasnaya, Nurlan Urazbayev; “ Nerve plastic surgery” – III place – operating team Adlet Zhunaitov, Kayirbek Konysbekov; “Leaders’ championship” – II place Ilmira Zhiganshina; “Knots knitting technique” – II place was won by Alisher Irismetov and Ilmira Zhiganshina. Besides, our students gained extra-points in “Abdominal surgery” and “Hepatobiliary surgery” competitions.

The jury and Olympiad organizers noted a high level of theoretical knowledge and practical training of our team. We hope, that The First International Olympiad in Astana will motivate the students of KSMU to improve medical knowledge and compete with the worthy students of CIS.
