Elmira Kultanova, 3^rd year PhD student of "Public Health" specialty, successfully passed the research internship with the foreign scientific supervisors Henrique Barros and Severo Milton at the Institute of Public Health University of Porto in the frame of external academic mobility from November 3, 2017 to January 31, 2018.

Earlier, the PhD student with supervisors developed a questionnaire on the topic of the PhD thesis and stipulated protocol of sociological survey. During the internship, statistical analysis and interpretation of the data was carried out, and the scientific publication was prepared for a leading peer-reviewed journal in the field of Infection Control and Epidemiology «American Journal of Infection Control» (IF-2.5). Furthermore, the next stage of research work was discussed with foreign supervisors; also, online-based questionnaire about knowledge and attitude of preventing nosocomial infections was prepared and validated.

The PhD student has mastered the new knowledge in the field of statistics, conducted research work using R-Studio software.

At the end of the internship, review of research abilities of the PhD student in statistics, infection control and epidemiology were assessed and prepared by associate professor Severo Milton.
