Academic mobility at the University of Vilnius, Lithuania.

Academic mobility at the University of Vilnius, Lithuania.

31 January 2018

We, the 4th year students of the Department of General Medicine and Dentistry Dina Nuraliyeva and Aida Rahimbekova were trained within the framework of academic mobility during the fall semester in one of the oldest and largest institutions of higher education in Europe, the University of Vilnius, Lithuania. The training was conducted in the disciplines "Surgical diseases", "Obstetrics and gynecology". The University consists of 12 faculties, 7 institutes with faculty rights, 4 interfaculty education and science centers, as well as the oldest library in Lithuania, a botanical garden, university museum and other non-academic departments. The University belongs to the Association of Universities of Europe Utrecht Network.

From the first days of training we were surrounded by attention and benevolent attitude. Thanks to the specially organized Orientation week program, whose aim was to acquaint students with the culture and traditions of the Lithuanian people, the sights and surroundings of the city, we easily joined the whirlpool of new knowledge and opportunities. We very liked the process of teaching and a completely different approach to students, where they focused on the practical part of training, communication with patients, assisting in operating rooms and providing a huge amount of material by teachers in the form of lectures and discussions. Thanks to this, it turned out to be an invaluable experience for further activity.

We were engaged in groups of different years of studying, according to their individual schedule, the cycles were held with the students of 4-6 courses of Vilnius University to cover all the disciplines that we needed. The training was conducted in the international English language, which rallied students from different countries, such as Italy, Spain, Germany, France, Sweden, Norway, Turkey, Georgia, Singapore, Korea, Japan, etc. The fact of realizing the tremendous responsibility as representatives of a young and developing country - Kazakhstan on the world area, served as a motivational impetus for improving the quality of knowledge and improving communication skills.

For this opportunity and support, we are very grateful to the rector of the KSMU, Professor R.S. Dosmagambetova, Vice-rector for Strategic Development, Science and International Cooperation, Professor A.A. Turmukhambetova and the Department for International Cooperation, in particular S. Kasymova andMaryana Uspanova. Special thanks to the international department of the University of Vilnius, Lithuania.

Sincerely, Dina Nuraliyeva and Aida Rakhimbekova, students of the 4-110 GM group.
