The scientific and practical conference "Topical issues of maternal and child health" was held on October 19-20 in Astana on the basis of "UMC" - the medical center of Nazarbayev University, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the National Science Center for Maternity and Childhood. The mission of the center was to provide medical services through the introduction of advanced technologies, international quality standards and the safety of medical care, the transfer of new clinical and management technologies to the national health system and the strengthening of the existing hospital infrastructure.

The questions of the conference were devoted to actual problems of pathology in obstetrics and gynecology, maternal and child health, transplantology, nephrology, pediatric surgery and urology, as well as organization and improvement of patients' life quality, early diagnosis and rehabilitation.

The moderators of the plenary session were Kurmanov Almas Mukhametkarimovich, Chairman of the Board of the Corporate Foundation "University Medical Center", Balieva Zagipa Yakhyanovna, Deputy of the Majilis of the Parliament of the RK, Commissioner for Children's Rights in the RK, Aktaeva Lyazzat Meirachevna, Vice Minister of Health of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The geography of the representatives of the countries was very extensive and representative. Famous domestic scientists Professor N.A. Kayupova, T.K. Chuvakova, A.B. Kanatbayeva and other specialists, foreign scholars Silvio Del Buon (Italy, Genoa), Jan Si Syaski (USA, Pennsylvania), Ails McLellay (Great Britain, Elinburgh), Aibek Typhoon (Turkey, Ankara) and other far-abroad countries, a delegation of leading specialists from Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kurgan) and Belarus (Minsk).

The section of children's oncology and oncohematology presented, a special interest where was examined issues of early diagnosis, features of the course of childhood tumors and new approaches to pathomorphological diagnosis and verification of clinical diagnosis. There was held master classes on the morphological diagnosis of the tumor process with the use of modern immunohistochemical methods of research, criteria for assessing the histological pattern.
