In the Land of the Rising Sun
The members of the Kazakhstan medical students' association (KazMSA) had participated in Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting (APRM) of medical students from 18 countries in Tokyo (Japan)during this academic year. Ten medical students out of four of the Kazakhstan universities had the opportunity to represent medical students of our country at the world stage, including the students of KSMU: KabdullinaKymbat (6-022 group), MukatovDamir (2-034 group), KnayatovaSagynysh (3-022 group), TalgatkyzyRamina (3-022 group). The organizers of this meeting were the medical students of Japan (IFMSA-Japan).
The theme of the meeting was "The role of healthcare system in conflict and emergency situations", so there were lectures and discussions among students and professionals specializedon conflict and emergency situations and nuclear weapons, atomic bombs. Thus, they had givenan opportunity to deepen students' knowledge in this field. We also participated in various sessions on six areas of IFMSA, where they had discussed topical issues of public health, reproductive health including HIV/AIDS, human rights and peace, medical education; as well as forged and signed contracts with the presence countries on the two exchange standing committees – professional and research exchange.
Students MukatovDamir
and KabdullinaKymbat, after being selected among the countries of
the Asia-Pacific region, were trained in one of the direction of the IFMSA
training - Training New Trainers (TNT), and at the end they became a
full-fledged international certified trainers of IFMSA. Such meetings provide
an opportunity to medical students to collaborate together, to share
experiences, find the benefits and flaws in education and working in our
