Webinar «Children's asthma»

20 October 2017

The department of immunology and allergology together with representatives of the company GlaxoSmithKline there was held a webinar, according to the GSK educational webinars program on the topic «Children's asthma».

The webinar was held online for practical health care workers on key issues of treatment and prevention of bronchial asthma.

The main idea of this webinar was to raise the professional level of medical workers on the problem of pediatric bronchial asthma, timely diagnosis of bronchial asthma in children, improve the quality of life of a patient, as late diagnosed bronchial asthma has a worse prognosis and more expensive treatment, and improper treatment leads to disability and death.

The causes of the appearance of bronchial asthma differ in different age periods. In children under one year, the disease appears during food allergies, as a result of which bronchial asthma only progresses.

Thus, the fault is due to inadequate treatment. Diagnosis is often more complicated for the same reason.

Representative of GlaxoSmithKline, Ph.D., manager for medical issues of GSC Golubovskaya Marina made a speech in front of the medical staff.

The webinar aroused a high interest among residents and employees of the department of immunology and allergology and interns of the 7th year of the «General Medicine» specialty. The webinar was accompanied by a discussion about of need for timely diagnosis and use for the treatment of asthma of inhaled anti-inflammatory drugs instead of systemic corticosteroids.

Thus, doctors are confident that it is possible to achieve complete control of bronchial asthma with the right approach to treatment in most sick children. In other words, giving the patient adequate therapy helps to minimize daily symptoms, night attacks and exacerbations of the disease, eliminate side effects and return patients normal physical activity and improve quality of life.

Participants of the webinar are very grateful to the organizers for useful information on the treatment of respiratory diseases.
