CONFERENCE ON JUDICIAL MEDICINE OF THE BALTIC JUDICIAL-MEDICAL ASSOCIATION
On September 20-22, 2017 in Tallinn (Estonia), the International Conference on Forensic Medicine was held at the Baltic Medico-Legal Association - BMLA 2017. BMLA 2017 encourages international dialogue and provides a forum for the exchange of information and experience in research area and best practice in forensic medicine through professional and national boundaries. Specially invited speakers took part in the conference to present their capabilities and modern developments. The main topics of the conference were: judicial pathology, clinical and legal medicine, forensic radiology, virtual autopsy, forensic genetics, forensic anthropology, forensic toxicology and forensic dentistry. The conference gathered more than 200 participants in the Estonian land - representatives of the practical link of forensic medicine, leading experts and manufacturers of medical equipment from different countries.
The mission of the conference is to create an international platforms
for the exchange of knowledge and experience in the topical issues of forensic
medicine. The scientific program of the event covered almost all the peculiarities
of modern forensic medical examination.
There were presented reports of the participants from Germany, Finland, Latvia,
Lithuania, Japan, Great Britain, USA, Portugal, Slovakia, Turkey, Hungary for
two days of work. There were considered
the topical issues of forensic medicine, application of new methods in its
conduct, and a number of discussions. There were also conducted master classes and practical
seminars on methods of virtual autopsy, molecular genetic studies and forensic
toxicology. The report on priorities and prospects of forensic medicine
development in the Republic of Kazakhstan was presented by the associate
professor of the Department of Pathological Anatomy of KSMU S.A. Musabekova . The
BMLA 2017 conference provided an invaluable opportunity to share new knowledge,
new opportunities for professional progress and exchange of experience with
other colleagues in various areas of forensic medicine, to develop ideas and
communicate with colleagues from around the world.
