Scientific internship of PhD students of KSMU at the Karolinska University.

From 14 to 26 of August 2017, PhD-students Koishibayev Zhandos Muratovich and Koishibayeva Leila Meiramovna had scientific internship at the Karolinska University Hospital, the largest Swedish and one of the largest medical universities in Europe (Fleminsberg, Sweden).

Scientific internship took place in the emergency department of surgery (akute) under the guidance of MD, PhD, Professor Gabriel Sandblom, who is the head of this department. Gabriel Sandblom is also a foreign scientific advisor of doctoral dissertations of Zh.M. Koishibayev and L.M. Koishibayeva.

Currently, Hospitals of Karolinska University, located in Solna and Huddinge are associated with the university as a research and educational institution. The bed fund has 1600 beds, the number of patients per year is 1.3 million. The hospital impresses with its size, capabilities, quality of patient care, comfort not only for the medical staff, but also for the patients' relatives. Each department is individually designed. This is remarkable that for patients created the most comfortable conditions, in each department there are rest areas for patients, kitchens and dining rooms. At the hospital, and in the whole of Sweden, all the conditions for people with disabilities are created. As for equipment, there are all of the latest technologies, which are known to the world medicine: gamma knife, a camera for scanning the whole body in combination with PET and CT technology, an MRI camera that does not give harmful radioactive irradiation, robotic surgery, etc.

During the internship, it was possible to attend some surgical operations. In particular, on laparoscopic surgery operations of removing esophageal cancer, which was conducted in 3D mode. All documentation are kept in electronic form and each patient has his own personal code number, access to which can only be obtained by a medical staff who has a special card with access.

  During the internship, reports of doctoral works in front of Swedish colleagues had been held. During the period of work with the scientific advisor, consultations had been held with discussion of preliminary results of doctoral dissertations and assigned objectives, an article had been written based on the results of the research.

In the period from 21 to 25 of August, we took a part in the international conference and annual meeting of Swedish surgeons Kirurgveckan JKPG 2017 in the form of a poster-report with the publication of the thesis.
