On 15^th- 16^th June, 2017the practical lessons on the base of student’s summer school of pediatricians (SSSP) were held at the department of children’s diseases No.2; the head of the department, d.m.s., prof. B.T. Tukbekova organized and held this work. Supervisor of the interns of the specialty “Pediatrics” and assistant of the department G.A. Sarmankulova, laboratory assistant G.Zh. Kudaybergen, advisor of internship practice on Pediatrics, assistant T.A. Kiryanova took part in the organization of the summer school. 6-year interns of the specialties “Pediatrics”, “GP”, “Obstetrics and Gynecology”, as well as residents of the specialty “Neonatology” participated in SSSP. The lessons were in the recreation area of KSMU “Medic” in the settlement Topar. The main aim of the summer school was to make the students acquainted with the programme IMCI and its advantages in Pediatrics. B.T. Tukbekova delivered the lecture upon the topic “Emergency care in Pediatrics”, having shown the algorithms of emergency action for children of different ages in various situations.

The students got acquainted with general signs of dangerous conditions of children demanding emergency assistance and further hospitalization. The participants could demonstrate their knowledge practically on the simulator of a child and ask additional questions which were answered by B.T. Tukbekova immediately. G.A. Sarmankulova and school participants demonstrated clinical case with detail analysis. All the participants played different roles, such as mother with child, emergency team and doctors of hospital ER. All participants showed their communication skills, the knowledge of diseases differential diagnosis, algorithms of emergency action at pre-hospital and hospital levels. The observers of this clinical case made the conclusion, having pointed out some participants’ mistakes and praised all participants for their professionalism. “There was co-operation in the team, relationship between colleagues. It is clear that there is a stable base of knowledge. Specific history taking and interaction with mother should be more concentrated on. The mistakes are unessential. We discussed them not to show how bad everything was, but in order not to do such mistakes in real situations” - Yaroslav Iscra, intern of GP Department No.1.

The students were divided into 3 teams by B.T.Tukbekova to check their knowledge, one of them was residentsof the specialty “Neonatology” and other two were interns of the specialty “Pediatrics”. They received clinical tasks connected to the material studied during academic year. The main objectives were: to carry out the examination algorithms of differential diagnosis, make a correct clinical diagnosis, as well as choose the approach to treatment in the concrete situation and calculate children’s nutrition for 24 hours. Each team prepared its answers, and was estimated by the judge group consisting of the students of other specialties and the facilitator of this game B.T.Tukbekova. All teams showed a good level; and the judge group gave them good marks.  

Besides the academic part, there was sustainable rest in this school. The participants of SSSP could bathe in local reservoir, play volleyball and table tennis, and taste the delicious cuisine. The students had picnic devoted to “The day of Medical worker”, where they could gratitude the facilitators of this school. In general, we liked everything; we could reinforce the studied material, met new friends and had a good rest; so to say, we mixed business with pleasure.
