Within the framework of the training program at I.M. Sechenov First Moscow Medical University, an international conference on colorectal surgery was held on May 29^th-30^th, 2017. The lecturers were leading and most titled experts in the field of colon surgery from the world's leading university clinics who conducted a workshop and delivered lectures on the most problematic and topical issues. This conference is one of the largest educational events in the field of colorectal surgery in Russia and CIS countries. Its scientific program covered a wide range of issues of treatment of colorectal cancer, colon and rectum diseases.

Experts gathered from all over the world – the East and the West. There were representatives from 20 countries: Japan, South Korea, Great Britain, the USA, Switzerland, China, India, and Germany -  a huge number of participants.

For two busy days of the conference, there was a hospitable and friendly atmosphere; the participants had an opportunity to exchange experience and improve their skills.

Unique reconstructive-restoration operations were performed with the use of high-tech laparoscopic technologies. Broadcasting of the surgical procedure was performed, which allowed the listeners to observe the operation in real time according to the principle of "live surgery".

Workshops and lectures were given by the brilliant teachers and surgeons on the topics of rectal cancer, total mesorectumectomy, laparoscopic and robotic operations in colon surgery, ambulatory coloproctological, and perineal diseases.

At such a large-scale event, the representatives of our university had the opportunity to make a presentation on laparoscopic technologies in colorectal surgery and presided over one of the sections of the conference.
