From 17.04.2017 to 28.04.2017 I was in Tajik State Medical University named after Abuali Ibn Sino (Dushanbe) within the academic mobility program.

From the first day, I was surrounded by attention, care and friendly atmosphere. By agreement with Dean of Medical Faculty, M.D. Muhabbatov Jienhon Kurbonovich, the whole period of my stay in the University was divided into two parts.

During the first week, I was at Department of Surgical Diseases No. 1, located in City Clinical Hospital of emergency medical care; Head of Department is M.D., Professor Nazarov Shokhin Kuvvatovich. I want to say a special thanks to Associate Professor, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Holmatov Pulat Kadyrovich, who from the first day took under his patronage and helped me in conducting classes. I gave the lectures. As echinococcosis is a regional pathology for Tajikistan, I conducted a lecture “Modern methods of diagnostics and treatment of echinococcosis in liver”, focused on the methods of surgical treatment of the disease in Kazakhstan. Another topic of the lecture was devoted to the pathology of the venous system: “Varicosity. Varicose veins of lower extremities”, which also aroused the interest of the students and led to the discussion of the raised questions. The practical training was held for 4-year students with Russian language of instruction.

I spent the second half of my trip at Department of General Surgery, located in City Clinical Hospital No. 5 named after Academician K.T. Tagiyev; Head of Department is PhD, Associate Professor Boimurodov Orif Sultanovich. The Department provides training in surgery not only for students of senior courses, but also for students of second course. During the second year of training, students take the “Practical skills in surgery” course.

I participated in morning conferences, operations on abdominal organs, coloproctology, in order to share practical experience at the clinical sites of the departments.

In the framework of the acquaintance with the achievements of healthcare of the Republic of Tajikistan, I visited “Istiqlol” Medical Centre, which is an advanced multidisciplinary medical institution, providing medical care in all areas, with the most modern equipment.

From 25.04.17 for 6-year students was held the state exam in several stages: OSCE, test and oral exam.

I was offered to participate in conduction of OSCE as an examiner of the surgical station. The process of OSCE in TSMU implies that, at first, a student pulls an envelope containing an examination card and a check-list.

The questionnaire contains 2 assignments in the following disciplines: therapy, obstetrics-gynecology, surgery, infectious diseases, and childhood diseases. The answer is assessed by the two point system: 0,1,2.

Of course, being in such a beautiful country, I could not keep from going sightseeing. The colleagues from the University showed me one of historical landmarks: Hissar fortress, located in Hissar valley, where in old times was the Great Silk Way.

Two weeks of my trip flew by like two days. Every day was filled with events, friends and new experiences thanks to the efforts of the staff of TSMU.
