From 26 April to 28 April 2017 at Karaganda State Medical University took place an annual contest for awarding the title of “The best in profession – graduate of KSMU”. In the competition took part 26 graduates who were ready to prove that they were the best in profession and deserved the title of “The best in profession – graduate 2017 of KSMU”. The competition was carried out in 4 steps: testing, portfolio assessment, assessment of clinical competence, presentation of academic project. The talented graduates, who distinguished themselves in learning and science, competed for the title.

The first stage of the competition was the assessment of level of theoretical knowledge conducted via testing; competition participants underwent testing in accordance with their profile. The second stage of the competition assumed the portfolio assessment; competition materials were submitted in the form of paper copy in a folder. Based on the results of the portfolio assessment, the commission noted the portfolios of Kalimbetova Akerka (therapist intern), Zhumabayeva Akmaral (therapist intern), Kuanysh Zhuldyz (bachelor of public health).

On the third stage of the competition all contestants rendered an emergency care in case of acute coronary syndrome, acute upper airway obstruction, medicinal anaphylactic shock, injuries of upper limbs and violation of skin integrity; they also provided the basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The rooms were equipped with modern simulators, dummies, medical devices, audio-video computer hardware. The results of tasks performance were evaluated using the check sheets.

Following the results of the 3rd stage, the commission noted Demeeva Nursaule (obstetrician-gynecologist intern), Yugay Kirill (therapist intern), Rakhmetov Zhandos (GP intern), who deftly demonstrated the clinical skills.

The fourth stage of the competition was the presentation of the academic project. The participants defended the academic projects on urgent problems of medicine: arterial hypertension in pregnant women, peptic ulcer disease, problems of people living with HIV, prevalence and risk factors of development of obesity, assessment of state of health of inhabitants of ecologically adverse regions, etc. The level of readiness was shown by each participant of the competition.

Following the results of 4 stages of the competition, were determined the winners of “The best in profession – graduate 2017 of KSMU” in the nominations:

-“The best obstetrician-gynecologist intern of KSMU” - Demeeva Nursaule Mukhtarovna;

-“The best surgical intern of KSMU” - Dakibayev Nurtas Samatovich;

-“The best therapist intern of KSMU” - Kalimbetova Akerke Baurzhanovna;

-“The best intern of general medical practice of KSMU” - Rakhmetov Zhandos Zharylkasynovich;

-“The best dental intern of KSMU” - Ashirbekova Zhadyra Zhanamayevna;

- “The best graduate of public health of KSMU” - Kuanysh Zhuldyz Maratkyzy.

The awards ceremony of the competition “The best in profession – graduate 2017 of KSMU” will take place within the festive event of KSMU, dedicated to the Medical Worker Day.
