Body Interact in KSMU
Karaganda State Medical University has acquired a new equipment, which
is the unique among the medical universities in the CIS countries, and the most
modern and innovative digital solution for teaching students through e-learning
approaches.
The interactive virtual system “virtual patient” is designed to teach senior students the skills in diagnosing, making clinical decisions and developing clinical thinking. The virtual patient is a horizontal touch screen, which depicts a virtual patient and displays the data of physiological parameters, electrocardiography, X-rays, results of laboratory tests requested during the diagnosis. The virtual simulator in real time displays the change in the patient's condition, as well as all the manipulations performed by the student, patient's response to the ongoing treatment. At the end of the training session, an objective assessment of the student's actions according to the specified criteria is displayed on the screen.
Since 2015, Body Interact has been used worldwide, in such institutions as American College of Cardiology (USA), American Heart Association (USA), American Stroke Association (USA), George Brown College (Canada), Mayo Clinic (USA), UCAM Universidad Católica de Murcia (Spain), Copenhagen University (Denmark), University of Vienna (Austria), Universidade de Coimbra (Portugal) University of Minho (Portugal) and University of Texas (USA).
