І Republican Forum of Youth Leaders of Student Self-Government of Medical Universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan

From 15 to 17 April 2017 at Karaganda State Medical University was held the I Republican Forum of Youth Leaders of Student Self-Government of Medical Universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan, arranged by “Samruk” Student Republic with the support of the university administration.

The aim of the Forum was to create conditions for development and organization of joint programs and projects, strengthening of interregional communication among student self-government of medical universities of the country.

The leaders from KSMU, Astana Medical University, SMU of Semey, South Kazakhstan State Pharmaceutical Academy, and West Kazakhstan State Medical University named after Marat Ospanov took part in the Forum: over 80 people in total.

The broadcasting of the Forum work was online daily in social networks.

A plenary session, work in sections were organized on the first day. The following topics were discussed:

·   “Student self-government in medical universities: its achievements, problems, prospects and ways of development”;

·  “The role of student self-government in development of scientific and educational activities of the country youth”;

·  “Development of modern medical youth in the context of globalization and internationalization”.

During the sessions within the sections, the Forum participants exchanged perspectives and ideas, discussed projects and plans for the future. Especially actively were discussed the participation of students in the educational and scientific process, its role and potential development in modern conditions.

The first day of the Forum ended with a visit to the Kazakh Drama Theater named after S. Seifullin and production of “Mahabbat kyzyk mol zhyldar”, supported by the Department of Culture, archives and documentation of Karaganda region.

On the second day, the following issues were discussed:

·  “Participation of student organizations in the formation of a civic stand of young people”

·  “Culture of students in health care”

·  “Interaction of student public organizations with public authorities”.

Particular attention was paid to the development of students' feelings of patriotism towards their homeland, ways of forming a stable civil position, culture of health workers, deontology and ethics of conduct. There were considered the codes of ethics of civil servants and the codes of universities of participants. One of the most important topic was the interaction of student self-government with government agencies, their points of contact and ways of realization of successful joint work for the implementation of state youth policy; issues of academic honesty, anti-corruption policy and prevention of religious extremism among the country youth.

On the same day, at Karaganda State Medical University was held a sports event, in which all participants of the Forum took an active part. Thus, the medical youth of the country showed that they were the leaders not only in studying but also in sports! That they were actively involved in promotion and formation of a healthy lifestyle.

The third day of the Forum was distinguished by an excursion to Karaganda State Medical University. The guests visited the Practical Skills Center, Dental Clinic, Anatomy Museum, University History Museum, and the library.

During the meetings within the sections, was considered the issue of introducing the mandatory social health insurance.

At the end of the Forum was held a meeting of delegates with the Rector of Karaganda State Medical University Dosmagambetova Raushan Sultanovna.

Summing up the results of the Forum, it was unanimously decided to arrange the Forum annually.
