Academic mobility is one of the most important trends of contemporary higher education. From 10 April 2017 to 21 April 2017, within the academic mobility program, senior lecturers of KSMU, S.A. Nikiforova and B.B. Rysbekova, visited the wonderful city of Semey, celebrating its 300 anniversary in 2018, with its glorious medical university that runs a department of contemporary history of Kazakhstan and general educational disciplines.

We got positive impressions from the university and its employees from the first days due to an interesting excursion on “special” places and attractions of SMU of Semey.

There is a very friendly and creative collective with great potential at the Department of Contemporary History of Kazakhstan and GED, where we conducted the activities within the academic mobility program. Every person of this department seriously and responsibly takes part in education and development of future medical specialists.

We mostly used the innovative methods of teaching during the classes on sociology and basics of economic theory, which aroused interest and got positive feedback from students and teachers of the department.

We also conducted a methodical seminar for teachers of the department on introduction of the innovative technologies, active methods of learning and teaching into the educational process, including consideration of the opportunities of MOODLE platform for improvement of the study process. According to the teachers of the department, this seminar motivated them to professional enhancement and initiative.

On 14 April 2017 we could participate in the roundtable meeting on the topic “Religious extremism and terrorism. Modern challenges” under the guidance of Senior Lecturer of Department of Contemporary History of Kazakhstan and GED of Semey SMU S.A. Kupanova and Instructor D.M. Rymanov.
