On 25 April 2016, Karaganda State Medical University was visited by the representatives from South Korea, namely Choi Zhong Hee, Director of Institute of Development of Healthcare Industry of the Republic of Korea in the CIS countries, Oh Dzhong Hee, Director of Institute of Development of Healthcare Industry, Kim Su Wong, Head of International Department, and the managers of Institute of Development of Healthcare Industry of the Republic of Korea Kim Rhee E, Son Jun Dzhi, Su Dean, under the leadership of Sergey Gennadievich Ogay, Vice-President of Association of Koreans of Kazakhstan. The visit was made within the International Conference “Prospects of cooperation of medical organizations of the Republic of Korea and Karaganda region of the Republic of Kazakhstan”.

The welcoming speech was made by the rector and a vice rector of the university. Raushan Sultanovna, Rector of KSMU, told in detail about the activity of the university: that there are 2 own clinics, namely Medical Center and Dental Clinic in the university. The Akimat of the region plans transferring into trust management of a 100-bed hospital of Karaganda and the Ministry of Healthcare of RK plans the construction of a 300-bed hospital within the public-private partnership. Taking into account the importance of strengthening of cooperation between the higher educational institutions and the leading foreign clinics in the field of education and health care, the university is open for discussion and exchange of scientific experience, achievements in the field of medicine and clinical practice.

Bakhyt Nurgalievna Kosherova, Vice-Rector for Clinical Work and Continuing Professional Development familiarized the guests with the clinical activity of the academic and teaching staff. 

During the visit, the administration of KSMU and the representatives of delegation from South Korea and Kazakhstan discussed the creation of joint South Korean-Kazakhstan projects on the academic mobility of the academic and teaching staff, training of residency students, conduction of master classes and seminars in South Korea.
