In 2017, the World Health Organization decided to choose the concept of helping people who suffer from depression as the topic of the World Health Day.

On 7.04.2017 at the Department of Elementary Psychology and Communication Skills was held a thematic conference dedicated to the problem of depression. Head of Department, Associate Professor, Candidate of Medical Sciences Larisa Macievskaya made a welcoming speech and a brief report on the clinical and epidemiological aspects of depression. A group of 1-2-year students made an original vernissage of presentations about the types and clinical manifestations of depression, gender characteristics of depression, ways of overcoming this disease. The students of 1-001 group of “General Medicine” specialty announced the results of psychodiagnostics of depression according to the method of Zhmurov in the sample of 1-year students. The students of the foreign department showed some yoga exercises helping to cope with depression. Interesting reports were made by 2-year students of “Biology” specialty of Zhezkazgan University named after O.A. Baykonurov, who study at KSMU within the academic mobility program, Omarkhanova Ayana and Omarkhanova Ilyana, Ermankulova Ainura.

  The holiday program was prepared by the students of 1-028 group of “General Medicine” specialty Tulegen Sabyrzhan and Turalieva Zhibek, under the guidance of the teachers of the department Zmazneva Ekaterina Alekseevna and Onaybaeva Zarina Kayratovna. During the program, the organizers and participants used the “embrace method”, lifted the spirits with orange fruits - tangerines, drew their present and future using bright paints, watched romantic and positive videos.

  At the end of the conference, the Department of Elementary Psychology and Communication Skills awarded the certificates to 20 active participants of the conference, and wished further creative development on the personal and professional levels.
