“Job Fair 2017” at Karaganda State Medical University

07 April 2017

The main performance indicators of any university are the demand and high competitiveness of its graduates on the labor market.

In order to facilitate the employment of graduates of Karaganda State Medical University, the Department of Clinical Work and Graduates Employment annually conducts a job fair and individual distribution of graduates with involvement of representatives of the boards of health, pharmaceutical companies and consumer protection departments of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Highly qualified graduates of the University are in demand on the labor market, as evidenced by the high employment rate of graduates, constituting 99% (in 2016).

Within implementation of the “Road Map of MH RK on distribution and employment of graduates of Kazakhstan medical universities for 2017”, on 31 March 2017 at Karaganda State Medical University was held a “Job Fair” attended by 196 representatives of 176 organizations of Akmola, Atyrau, Zhambyl, Karaganda, Kostanay, Mangistau Pavlodar, North-Kazakhstan regions, and by the students of the final year, in particular bachelor’s students of “Pharmacy”, “Preventative medicine”, “Nursing care”, “Biology” and “Public health” specialties, and the residency graduates, 5-year students of “General medicine” and “Dentistry” specialties.

At the center of the dialogue between the university community and the labor market is a graduate. The willingness of the graduate and his or her ability to work effectively constitute the main criterion of the employers (and society as a whole) for evaluation of the quality of education in a certain educational institution and, as a result, the main area of responsibility of the university.

The main objective of the “Job Fair” was the conclusion of agreements on employment of graduates of bachelor’s program and the residency of the current year, and conclusion of agreements with the bachelor’s students of 5 year of training in “General medicine”, “Dentistry” specialties on targeted training under the internship in surgery, therapy, general medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and dentistry, followed by job placement.

By tradition, Vice-Rector for Clinical Work and Continuing Professional Development B.N. Kosherova made a welcoming speech, and Head of Department of Clinical Work and Graduates Employment B.K. Omarkulov made a report on the university, graduates of 2017, and types of professional activity of graduates of bachelor’s program.

Then the employers were given a chance to speak. They, in turn, in order to attract young specialists to their regions, put emphasis on the offered benefits packages, providing transfer allowance, housing, payment for rental housing, employment of spouses and placement of children of young doctors in preschool institutions. Thus, Dautbaev Erken Karimovich, Head of the Board of Health of the Akimat of Kostanay region told in his speech about providing young specialists with the installation allowance (money) in the amount of 150 thousand to 1 million tenge, and about the additional state program “With a diploma to a village” envisaging the payment of transfer allowance in the amount of 70 MCI (158,830 tenge) and the concessional lending for purchase of housing in the amount of 1,500 MCI (3,403,500 tenge). The Board of Health of Pavlodar region was represented by the Head of Department of Personnel Management and Organizational Work Eltayeva Gulzhanat Oryntayevna, who told about the offered transfer allowances for 75 specialists in the amount of 11,135,600 tenge, and the loans for purchase of housing for 18 specialists in the amount of 53,400,000 tenge.

Some organizations were distinguished by the additional benefits such as tuition fees for the residency training in the Republic of Kazakhstan and abroad.

The employers, as follows from the results of the analysis of employer questioning, evaluated the level of theoretical and practical training of graduates as “Good”. At the end of the event, there were concluded the tripartite agreements with the bachelor’s students of 2017 in “Pharmacy”, “Medical and preventive care”, “Nursing care”, “Public health”, “Biology” specialties and the planned graduation of 2018, 2019 in “General medicine” and “Dentistry” specialties, as the employment of graduates in compliance with the obtained profession is one of the main objectives of Karaganda State Medical University.
