“Doctor is a philosopher too as there's not much difference between wisdom and medicine”.

Hippocrates

We, 4- and 5-year students of Karaganda State Medical University, have been studying at Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Chisinau, Republic of Moldova) for one term within the external academic mobility program.

The 4-year students studied “Internal diseases” and “Surgical diseases” disciplines and the 5-year students studied “Emergency medical care” and “General medical practice” disciplines.

During the training we visited the modern and innovative “CUSIM” Center of Practical Skills of N. Testemitanu SUMP. At the center within the “General medical practice” discipline we together with the residency students of SUMP had a chance to act as family doctors, counselling and administering care to so-called “patients-actors”, who had passed special training courses for simulation and placing it closer to the situations of the real life. Many foreign medical schools introduced the training of “patients-actors” into practice. Also in the framework of the “Emergency medical care” discipline, we learned about the modern resuscitation equipment and European protocols for provision of emergency medical care. In the context of “Internal diseases” discipline, we visited the Republican Hospital, accepting patients from all over the country. The rheumatology and ophthalmology disciplines were the most memorable.

N. Testemitanu SUMP is a multinational university, providing training of students from USA, France, Israel, Russia, Palestine, Ukraine, India, etc. During the period of study, the administration created comfortable conditions for us and organized a program through which we learned more about the culture of Moldova.

Despite of some differences in the educational system in the field of medicine, we expanded the scope of our knowledge, got acquainted with new people and colleagues. We got inspired there.

Before we left, the President of SUMP, M.D., Professor Ion Ababii met with us at the hall of the academic council. He congratulated us on successful completion of the term, and expressed hope that friendly and partner relations between our universities would reach a new level of quality and would further improve the system of medical education and healthcare of our countries.

We, 4- and 5-year students of the Faculty of General Medicine and Dentistry, express deep gratitude to the Rector of Karaganda State Medical University Raushan Sultanovna Dosmagambetova for giving us the great opportunity to study at the Republic of Moldova. Also, we express gratitude to the Department of International Cooperation and Bologna Process.
