In December 2016 the teachers of the Department of Internal Diseases No. 1 of Karaganda State Medical University organized and held a master class “In assistance to general practitioner: from diagnosis to rational treatment of common diseases in pregnant women and individuals with comorbid conditions” for the general practitioners of the primary level. The audience consisted of 25 doctors from Polyclinic No. 4, Polyclinic No. 3, Polyclinic No. 5, City Hospital No. 1 of Karaganda, Polyclinic No. 1 of Temirtau and Central Regional Hospital of Abay district. It is noteworthy that a number of young professionals, who had graduated our university recently, took part in the master class.

The topic of the master class is very relevant, because the extragenital pathology is one of the major causes of maternal mortality, which constitutes 32.1% in Kazakhstan. The WHO applies the maternal mortality rate as the benchmark used for ensuring the health of the nation. The doctors of almost all specialties should know about the specifics of working with pregnant women, physiology of pregnancy and characteristics of the course of disease within gestation period.

There is also an increase in the number of patients with multiple chronic diseases around the world. This tendency will remain in the future as well, thus attracting the interest of specialists of different fields to the issue of polymorbidity. A number of publications, registered in the Medline database to a “polymorbidity” keyword, increased by 4.5 times over the past decade. In 2010 was created the International Research Community on Multimorbidity (IRCMo). Today it is especially important to teach the doctors, primarily the specialists of therapeutic profile and general practitioners, to evaluate the structure, severity and possible consequences of comorbidity, conduct a targeted examination of patients and appoint appropriate treatment to them.

Within the framework of the master class were widely covered the issues of the tactics of diagnosis and treatment of diseases of heart, lungs, kidneys, blood-forming tissues and diabetes in pregnant women. A great attention was paid to the practical classes in treatment of arterial hypertension, infections of urinary tract, the tactics of treatment of patients with anemia and thrombocytopenia under outpatient polyclinic conditions with the analysis of clinical cases, consideration of new ways of therapy from the position of evidence-based medicine.

In summing up the results of the master class, the participants noted the high level and the relevance of the presented reports, the urgency and necessity of conduction of events of similar level. It should be noted that the information, obtained by the participants, contributed to expansion of their intellectual horizons, enhancement of creativity, persistent absorption of knowledge of real life situations at maximum use of evidence-based global information resources. The administration of CSE “Polyclinic No. 4” of Karaganda sent a letter of thanks to the Rector of KSMU R.S. Dosmagambetovа for organization and conduction of the master class by the teachers of the Department of Internal Diseases No. 1.
