On 15 December 2016 was organized the Republican Scientific-Practical Conference “Strategy of development of infectious disease service in the Republic of Kazakhstan” by the Republican Public Association “Society of Infectious Disease Physicians” with participation of the Ministry of Healthcare and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and JSC “Astana Medical University” on the basis of the Children's Hospital of Infectious Diseases of Astana.

In the conference opening ceremony took part the representatives of MHSD RK, the Chairman of the Board of the Amalgamation of individual entrepreneurs and legal entities “National Chamber of Healthcare” D.S. Esimov, the Chief Expert of the Department of Medical Care Organization of MHSD RK G.E. Sarsenbaeva, the Chief Expert of the Department of Epidemiological Supervision of the Consumer Protection Committee of the Ministry of National Economy of RK N.Y. Azimbaeva, the Head Doctor of the Children's Hospital of Infectious Diseases of Astana J.K. Azhigulov, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Chamber of Healthcare, Candidate of Medical Sciences A.A. Kauysheva, the Vice-Rector for Clinical Work and Continuing Professional Development of KSMU, a freelance infectious diseases specialist (adult) of RK, M.D., Professor B.N. Kosherova.

The conference was attended by the research workers of medical universities of Kazakhstan, freelance chief infectious disease specialists from all regions of Kazakhstan, head doctors of infectious disease hospitals of RK and infectious disease specialists from all over Kazakhstan and the experts from the Organization for Control of Infectious Diseases (CDC).

The delegation of Karaganda State Medical University was represented by the Vice-Rector for Clinical Work and Continuing Professional Development, a freelance infectious disease specialist (adult) of RK, M.D., Professor B.N. Kosherova, the Head of the Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Academician of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, M.D., Professor R.Kh. Begaydarova and acting Professor of the Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Candidate of Medical Sciences G.K. Alshynbekova.

During the conference were discussed the following issues: epidemiological situation of infectious diseases for 11 months of 2016 and undertaken measures; social mobilization for prevention of infectious diseases in the Republic of Kazakhstan; development of institution of non-governmental organizations of Kazakhstan under modern conditions, the role of the National Chamber of Healthcare and non-governmental organizations in implementation of “Денсаулық” State Program of Healthcare Development for 2016-2019; transference of certain functions to the nongovernmental sector; the analysis of morbidity and mortality due to infectious diseases in children, clinical protocols, forms of management of infectious disease hospitals (state institution, state public enterprise), forms of work of the department of infectious diseases, the advantages and disadvantages of work of infectious disease departments in multidisciplinary clinics of North Kazakhstan region, East Kazakhstan and Akmola region.

The Vice-Rector for Clinical Work and Continuing Professional Development of KSMU, M.D., Professor B.N. Kosherova delivered a report on the organization of the infectious disease service in the Republic of Kazakhstan with the implementation of the mandatory social health insurance.

There was discussed the role of the program of CDC in Kazakhstan and the results of its activity, the relevance of tropical infections in Kazakhstan. There also were considered the issues of training of specialists of the infectious disease service in Kazakhstan.

At the end of the conference, the participants discussed the Charter, the composition and the work plan of the Republican Public Association “Society of Infectious Disease Physicians” of Kazakhstan as a non-governmental, self-governing public organization. The Chair of the Board of the Republican Public Association “Society of Infectious Disease Physicians” was assigned a freelance pediatric infectious disease specialist, the Head of the Department of Children Infectious Diseases of JSC “Astana Medical University”, M.D., Professor D.A. Baesheva.

The Chair of the Branch of the Republican Public Association “Society of Infectious Disease Physicians” was assigned the Head of the Department of Children Infectious Diseases of KSMU, Academician of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, M.D., Professor R.Kh. Begaydarova.

In conclusion, a resolution was adopted.
