On 16-17 December 2016 in Astana was held the III Congress of Hepatologists of Kazakhstan. In the Congress took part the speakers from 11 countries: Italy, Spain, South Korea, Russia, Turkey, Armenia, Great Britain, Hungary, and the USA. The Congress was opened by Tsoy Aleksey Vladimirovich, the Vice-Minister of Healthcare and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the welcoming speech of the Minister of Healthcare and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Duysenova Tamara Kasymovna.The guests were also welcomed by Kaliaskarova Kulpash Sagyndykovna, the Chief Hepatologist of the MHSD of RK, the Head of the National Coordination Centre of Hepatology and Gastroenterology, the Vice-President of the Kazakh Association for Study of Liver, the President of the International HepatoTransplant Group.

The Congress program included the plenary lectures, discussion of actual problems of theoretical and clinical hepatology in the following areas: treatment of chronic viral hepatitis and hepatocellular carcinoma, achievements of transplantology, methods of treatment of patients after liver transplantation, autoimmune liver diseases, pathology of liver and pregnancy.There was a speaker from Karaganda Kosherova Bakhyt Nurgalievna, the Vice-Rector for Clinical Work and Continuing Professional Development, M.D., Professor of Karaganda State Medical University, with the report on the topic “Acute hepatitis and pregnancy. Difficult cases from practice”.

The participants discussed a wide range of issues, being actual and interesting for the gastroenterologists, infectiologists, general practitioners, physicians, surgeons, transplant surgeons, oncologists.In the work of the International Congress took part the students of Karaganda State Medical Universityof 4, 5, 6 courses: E.N.Bayashov, O.M. Myngbay, J.B. Mukhamedzhanov, A.E. Almurza, K.M. Saruarov, J.T. Fazylova, V.S. Porotikova, S.Sh. Kurmanbaeva, M.Sh. Izbassarov, under the guidance of Y.M. Laryushina, the Head of the Department of Internal Diseases No. 2, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor.

The event of such high level gave us the impulse to develop and broaden knowledge in the field of hepatology and internal diseases. We had a great opportunity to meet the international experts Marina Beringer (Spain), Kwang Kwong Li (South Korea), Sandro Vento (Italy), Kevin Cloerty (USA), Ashley Braun (UK), Murat Kylych (Turkey) and ask them many questions.

The modern achievements of hepatology, discussed within the Congress, became the “challenge” in the study of the evidence-based medicine and its integration in the practice.At the end of the Congress, the participants were given the certificates and the gifts.
